Buffalo Zoo-Mobile Visits TR

On Friday, April 24th, the Buffalo Zoo-Mobile visited TR to close out their Earth Week celebrations. Students got to see an armadillo, legless lizard, red-footed tortoise and a sun conure bird.

For the 31st year, TR students created "Treasures from Trash" to celebrate Earth Week. They created works of art made solely from recycled products. Students learned about how various materials can be utilized in different ways.

Snowball Playdate

TR students synergized by collecting monetary donations for the Environmental Club. Students earned an indoor snowball playdate with Mr. Mochrie! All proceeds will go toward Earth Day assemblies and hands-on environmental activities for students.

Miss Faulise’s class celebrated the 50th day of school in true ’50s fashion! Students dressed up and enjoyed themed activities. They wrapped up their retro fun with a sweet treat - delicious ice cream floats to end the day on a happy, fizzy note!

Today, we proudly marked the completion of another piece of the Cheektowaga-Sloan Beautification and Athletic Facility Enhancement Capital Project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new playground at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary. This exciting addition provides a safe, engaging space for all TR students and reflects our commitment to investing in their growth and well-being. We are excited to announce that the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD has been awarded the ECASB Hodgson Russ Collaboration Award for our work with the Eric County Restorative Justice Coalition. This award will be presented to our district at a special ECASB dinner in June 2025.

Author Visit Icon

In preparation for a special visit by a local author, TR students spent time listening to The Worry Monster, identifying worries, and learning seven strategies to calm their inner worries.  To conclude this unit, local UB professor, yoga teacher and author, Dr. Catherine Cook-Cottone, visited PreK-2nd grade students on April 21, 2026.  Dr. Catherine Cook-Cottone led the students through a movement activity to go along with the story.  TR students practiced the seven strategies to calm their future worries and even got to ask the author questions!
