The Graduating Class of 2025 visited TR on Thursday, June 12th for their Annual Districtwide Cap and Gown Parade. The district's youngest students and TR faculty and staff look forward to this event each year.

TR Leadership Day 2025
TR celebrated our annual Leadership Day on Friday, May 23rd! Students celebrated achieving their WIGS (Wildly Important Goals) and showcased all their achievements this year. The day ended with a schoolwide Habit Parade and a concert by Kevin McCarthy.
Stone Soup
TR second grade drama students performed Stone Soup under the direction of Mrs. Fitzner on Wednesday, May 28th.
TR’s Fine Dining Winner for April
Mr. Mochrie was thrilled to recognize Mrs. Butzer’s Kindergarten class as the TR Fine Dining winner for April! Their celebration took place on Monday, May 27th, with a special surprise visit from our Lighthouse Coach, Ms. Thune, along with members of the district administration. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Galenski, Mrs. Finn, and Mrs. Emmerling for their support in making this experience truly memorable for the students. Way to go, Kindergarten leaders!

K-9 Demo
Transit Police Officer Justinger and his K-9 Eiko visited TR on Friday, May 9th showcasing the important job they have in keeping our community safe.
Woodrow Wilson's Band Visits TR
On Friday, May 9th the Woodrow Wilson Band visited TR for their annual performance showcasing their talents and inspiring future musicians.
Multicultural Night 2025
On April 30th Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt hosted another great Multicultural Night. Families from our District and Community cultural organizations came and represented 13 different cultures. Families got to play games, make crafts, get Henna designs, and sample different ethnic food.
FasciNature
To end Earth Week, TR students attended a FasciNature assembly. They got to see and learn about a centipede, scorpion, toad, tree frog, legless lizard, snake, axolotl, turtle and a tortoise!
Beautifying TR's Landscaping
Artists gathered all the rocks from the front landscaping and brought them to the art room to clean up and repaint soon
ECASB Hodgson Russ Collaboration Award
We are excited to announce that the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD has been awarded the ECASB Hodgson Russ Collaboration Award for our work with the Eric County Restorative Justice Coalition. This award will be presented to our district at a special ECASB dinner in June 2025.
Golden Ticket Winners!
Mrs. Cosen's class collected the most golden tickets for following the 7 habits and got to parade around the school with a special guest - the Easter Bunny!

Treasures From Trash
Students at Theodore Roosevelt have been busy creating some amazing projects in preparation for Earth Day!
TR Student Lighthouse Donation Drive
Thank you to all the Theodore Roosevelt students and their families who donated to the TR Student Lighthouse Donation Drive for the 10 Lives Cat Club at the Galleria Mall. On April 10th, the Student Lighthouse Team delivered over 100 items to the cat adoption shelter, which is also proudly supported by Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass.
Major League Baseball Opening Day
Theodore Roosevelt students and staff celebrated MLB Opening Day by wearing their favorite team attire with the hope of warmer weather. First grade students in Miss Markiewicz's class brought the ballpark to them with various baseball themed learning activities, games, and popcorn and hotdogs to celebrate.
Glenn Colton Visits TR!
Theodore Roosevelt School welcomed back Glenn Colton on Friday, March 21st for the concert of the century. He incorporated the 7 Habits while having a ton of fun with the students and staff.

Pre-K students celebrated St. Patrick's day by going on a leprechaun hunt!

Friendship Dance Party
The TR Student Lighthouse Team hosted a Friendship Dance Party on Friday, February 14th.
Tower Gardening at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary
TR students worked with Miss Kildal our new school social worker and Mr. Mochrie to harvest herbs and prepare the tower garden for some different plants for the Spring. The hope is to grow Bibb Lettuce, Peppers, Beans, Peas, and Dill.
Dental Health Awareness Month
TR students learned about the importance of dental health from Ms. Tracey Fest a dental hygienist from “The Smile Team” at University Pediatric Dental Associates. Each student also received toothpaste and floss to use at home to assist them with proper cleaning.

Family First Dinner 2025
Enjoy these photos from our annual Family First Dinner. This year’s theme was “Teamwork Tailgate.” Students and families enjoyed a tailgate style dinner along with games, face painting, balloons, a pep rally and a restorative circle let by assistant superintendent, Mrs. Finn.

Fire Prevention Day @ TR
Fire Prevention Day was held at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary on Friday, November 1st. The day included demonstrations, lunch with our first responders, and some students had a special ride to school on a fire truck for creating a home safety escape plan. Thank you to the Doyle Fire Companies for helping educate our students.
Halloween was Happening at TR!
Students were in the spirit for the annual costume parade. The faculty and staff also had fun with the students and participated in a school costume contest. There was even a shark sighting on the roof!
BOE Appreciation Night
On Tuesday, October 15th students and staff from Cheektowaga Sloan showed their appreciation to the Board of Education at the Annual Board Appreciation Night.

Homecoming Pep Rally
Mr. Krupski and JFK High School student athletes led TR students in our Annual Homecoming Pep Rally in preparation for all the Homecoming weekend events.
Spirit Week @ TR
Delivering Hope
Assemblymember Monica Wallace received state funding for Delivering Hope from the local nonprofit, The Teacher's Desk. As a result of the strong partnership that Monica Wallace has with Superintendent Andrea Galenski and the Cheektowaga-Sloan School Dsitrict, she wanted to use some of the funds allocated to The Teacher's Desk to give free school supplies to Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Both schools received the deliveries yesterday and are beyond grateful for this beautiful gesture of kindness. Twelve shopping carts of supplies were delivered to each school and will be used throughout the year to support our students and teachers as they work hard to teach and learn each day.

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District community voted 'YES' to accept the proposed $8,5000,000 Beautification and Athletic Facility Enhancement Capital Project. This Capital Project has no impact on the District's tax levy or tax rate.
